The Wallis Brazos Cougars played back-toback games recently as they are making their way through the tournament part of their schedule. They took on the Navarro Panthers and the Lockhart Lions picking up one win and one loss along the way.

The Wallis Brazos Cougarettes dropped back-to-back games against the Sealy Lady Tigers and the Rice Lady Raiders. They lost the games by a combined score of 80-40 as they are still trying to find their identity as a team.

The Sealy Lady Tigers basketball team traveled to Altair, TX to participate in the Rice Lady Raiders Swamp Invitational. In their first two games of the tournament, the Lady Tigers took on the Edna Cowgirls and a very familiar foe, the Wallis Brazos Cougarettes coming away with one win and one loss.

Sealy Tiger football team members were well represented on the District 11 4A all-district teams. The Tigers finished second in district with a 4-1 record and were 10-2 overall. Sealy advanced to the regional semifinals where they lost to West Orange Stark 35-28 in overtime.

The legacy of the Sealy Athletic program grows larger by two as they are sending two more athletes off to continue their academic and athletic careers at the college level. First off was Nathaly Velazquez, a very talented softball player, who is heading to Alvin Community College to continue her softball career. She has been a huge piece for the Lady Tigers softball team over the past couple of years and now will try to make an impact at the college level. Then there is Kane Killough who was the starting quarterback for the Sealy Tigers football team this year. He proved that he has dual threat capabilities which drew interest from the United States Air Force Academy. He played very well in his senior year, bringing the Tigers to the third round of the playoffs and now is off to try to earn the starting quarterback job at the Air Force Academy.

The Sealy Tiger football season came to a sad ending when they lost to West Orange-Stark 35-28 in overtime. It was a battle of two very good football teams and Sealy held its own against a team that had the speed in quickness they hadn’t seen before this season.

There were four Sealy Lady Tiger volleyball players that were selected to be on the Academic All-State team. To be selected for the Academic All-State team, players must be major contributors on the court while maintaining a 3.5 GPA.
