New developments spur growth in Sealy area

Recently, Windy Hill Development, a pioneering land development company establishing master-planned communities and mixed-use commercial retail projects in the Greater Houston area, announced the purchase of 300 acres in Austin County, west of Houston, and will develop a master-planned community named “The Grove.” “As a native of Austin County, I have a personal connection to this area and am committed to honoring its character while helping to meet its housing needs,” said Rachael Hall, Principal of Windy Hill Development.

Expanded digital license, tag options for recreational hunting, fishing on sale Aug. 15

AUSTIN – Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD) will offer fully digital options for all recreational hunting, fishing and combo license and tag types when 2025-26 licenses go on sale Aug. 15th. In March, the Texas Parks and Wildlife Commission approved the expansion of digital license and tag options.

Texas Game Wardens near conclusion of ‘Ghost Deer’ case with 24 suspects, 1,400 charges filed statewide

This brings the total number of individuals implicated in the case to 24, with approximately 1,400 charges filed across 11 Texas counties.

Gas prices rise 1.9 cents a gallon

Average gasoline prices in Texas have risen 1.9 cents per gallon in the last week, averaging $2.73/g today, according to GasBuddy’s survey of 13,114 stations in Texas. Prices in Texas are 0.5 cents per gallon lower than a month ago and stand 36.9 cents per gallon lower than a year ago. The national average price of diesel has increased 1.6 cents in the last week and stands at $3.709 per gallon.

Abbott, Secretary Rollins announce $750 million for new world Screwworm protection facility

AUSTIN — Governor Greg Abbott and U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Brooke Rollins announced at a press conference that the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) is investing $750 million in a new Domestic Sterile Screwworm Production Facility to combat the northward spread of the New World screwworm (NWS) and protect American livestock producers.
