AUSTIN – Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) hosted the national Uniformed Safety Education Officers Workshop (USEOW) in Grapevine, Texas, last week. The four-day workshop and competition, which took place June 23-26, offers public safety education training to state police officers from across the country.

Austin –The Texas Veterans Commission (TVC) Veteran Employment Services teams operating in West Texas District Workforce Solution Centers received the Mark Sanders Award for Exceptional Service to Veterans at the National Association of State Workforce Agencies’ (NASWA) 12th Annual Veterans Conference in Washington, D.C. on July 10, 20. The Mark Sanders Award recognizes a onestop career center whose efforts to serve veterans go above and beyond the scope of mandatory service and have a special emphasis on veterans with significant barriers to employment. Its name honors the untiring efforts of past NASWA leader Mark Sanders.

97 years ago Wallis group to appear before road commission Another hearing on the proposed road from Houston to Clodine, Simonton and Wallis, in response to requests made by the Commissioners Courts of Harris, Fort Bend and Austin counties, will be held in the State High Building in Austin on Tuesday, July 20th at 9:30 o’clock in the morning. A chartered Central Texas bus will carry a delegation of around 25 Wallis and surrounding area citizens to Austin for the hearing.
