Sealy FFA members compete at Simbrah-Simmental Superbowl

Sealy FFA members recently competed in the Simbrah-Simmental Superbowl XXIX in San Antonio and earned top marks. Avery Oliver won Reserve Champion Showman and Champion of the 18-year-old Showman Division that totaled $850 in scholarships.

CORRECTION

In the April 22 edition of The Sealy News, there were incorrect numbers printed. In the COVID-19 update on Page 3, it was said 46.42% of Austin County residents aged 16 and up had received at least one dose of the vaccine as well as received both doses. However, only 26.54% of 16+ residents have received one dose while 46.42% of 16+ residents were considered fully vaccinated, according to County Judge Tim Lapham. We apologize for any inconvenience or confusion this may have caused.

Blinn board approves naming of STEI building

The Blinn College District Board of Trustees approved the naming of the health sciences portion of the Brenham Campus science, technology, engineering, and innovation (STEI) building in honor of the BetsWest Foundation and Sally Blackie-Sengel, and also approved a new program that will launch in the facility in Spring 2022 during its regular meeting Tuesday.

Faith Academy crowns royalty

Faith Academy of Bellville’s “Putting on the Ritz Roaring 20’s Prom” was held on Saturday, April 17. Most all of the high school students attended the ritzy evening, all decked out in their finer duds, enjoying and dancing to the music of earlier times as well as modern day.

Eighteen students awarded scholarship

At April 21’s Austin County A&M Club Aggie Muster, 18 local students were selected as scholarship recipients from the Austin County A&M Club. Seven students from Sealy High School, six from Bellville High School, one from Brazos High School, three Sealy High alumni and one Bellville High alumnus were among the honorees.
