In the wake of Brian Thompson’s resignation as superintendent, the Brazos ISD Board of Trustees voted to name Scott Rogers as the lone finalist during its May 26 regular meeting. Janice Sykora has been serving as interim superintendent since March 11.
The Austin County Grand Jury returned indictments against seven people in the May 26 session. Those indicted include: Sean Michael Bradford, evading arrest or detention with a vehicle.

According to data from the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board’s CollegeForAllTexans.com, out-of-district Blinn students taking 30 credit hours will save $4,335 in tuition and fees compared to in-state residents at the average Texas public university.
Texas 10 Most Wanted Fugitive Tieon Lashad Legan is back in custody after investigators received a Crime Stoppers tip about his whereabouts. Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) Special Agents and Tarrant County Sheriff’s deputies used the information to locate and arrest Legan at an apartment complex in Fort Worth on June 1. A reward of $7,500 will be paid to the tipster.
June 8, Texas Comptroller Glenn Hegar announced his certification of Senate Bill 1, the general appropriations act that was approved by both houses during the recently gaveled regular session of the 87th Texas Legislature. The bill then went to the desk of Gov. Greg Abbott.
May 26, the Texas Transportation Commission selected Marc Williams as the Texas Department of Transportation’s new executive director. Williams, who has served as the agency’s deputy executive since 2016, will began his new role June 1, 2021.
