In mere days, the Class of 2021 will be launched into early adulthood after more than a year of pandemic life that offered very few of the traditional rites of passage that they looked forward to for most of their 13-year educational career.

After a 30-plus-year streak of placing at district was snapped, Sealy High School’s One Act Play simply wanted to advance past the first round this year. The momentum generated following first-place finishes at district and bi-district with its production of Stoneface, however, made everyone believe state was a real possibility.

After the dust had settled last Saturday following May 1’s General Election, some incumbents and some newly elected candidates were deemed unofficial winners of races. All votes will become official after being canvassed by the local entity.

Sealy FFA representatives recently competed at the Texas FFA State Contest and earned top marks with one team in the top 20 and two more that finished in the top 35. Individually, two earned top-25 marks in their competition.

In its eighth performance at the state level in program history, Sealy High School’s One Act Play group earned fourth place at the top competition in Texas with its production of Stoneface at Davenport High School April 28.

Texas Lt. Governor Dan Patrick has appointed five Senators to serve on the powerful budget conference committee tasked with producing the final version of SB 1, the state’s nearly $250 billion spending bill. SB 1 is the only piece of legislation lawmakers must pass during the legislative session.
