The National Weather Service issued a Special Weather Statement just before 7 p.m. regarding severe storms moving west at 20 mph.
“Doppler radar was tracking strong thunderstorms along a line extending from 10 miles east of Speaks to Cumings,” the statement says. “Winds in excess of 30 mph will be possible with these storms.”
Eligible families can swing by Cryan Park in Sealy to pick up a box fan and cooling towels courtesy of Combined Community Action.
CCA Communication Director Karen Walpole said the service goes to different cities to provide family services, weatherization and meals on wheels aid.
