After the regular westbound exit off Interstate 10 to Highway 36 in Sealy was closed for a portion of July, the exit to Rexville Road (Exit 718) was condensed with Exit 720 as a detour option back into town. This traffic pattern was scheduled for use for approximately two months as part of the Texas Department of Transportation’s expansion project.

#4 Residents receive high gas bill due to storm

City officials were getting ready to feel the brunt of residents’ anger as gas bills were starting to arrive with higher bills caused by usage during Winter Storm Uri in mid-February. In social media posts, Sealy residents were venting their frustrations over the city’s handling of the gas usage and bills for that usage during the winter storm.

Sealy PD reports surge in catalytic converter thefts

The Sealy Police Department has reported a surge of catalytic converter thefts directly from vehicles across Sealy in the past few weeks costing victims thousands in replacement costs. Thieves have been known to slide under cars or trucks and remove the device within minutes, often in search of the valuable platinum, palladium, and rhodium inside.

Deli lands in Bellville

Community members flocked to Birdies Deli & Co. just off of Highway 36 for the ribbon-cutting ceremony held Tuesday, Dec. 14. Rebecca Clanton Lewis said she hopes the Bellville business will fill empty stomachs in town with her famous desserts, casseroles, chicken salad and more. “I want the Bellville community to not have to leave their community to get good quality food. There are some great places around here, but this is what we were missing,” said Clanton-Lewis.
