Voters from around Austin County ventured out to their polling locations last Tuesday, Nov. 2, to voice their opinion concerning the Texas Constitutional Amendment Election and Bellville ISD Bond Election.

As of press time, Austin County was gearing up to honor local service-members with Veterans Day programs and ceremonies Thursday, Nov. 11.

The Austin County Commissioners Court met at the Austin County Courthouse Monday, Nov. 8, to agree to keep district boundaries as they are despite a suggestion from Allison, Bass, & Magee, L.L.P. to consider redistricting.

Sunday, Nov. 7, the Austin County Sheriff’s Office was contacted to assist The Acadia Parish, Louisiana Sheriff’s Office with a murder investigation.

During the course of the investigation, Austin County Patrol officers and the Louisiana investigators discovered that Stephen Wayne Myers II was potentially hiding on a property located in the 8000 block of FM 529. The Austin County SRT was immediately activated and arrived on scene.

Goblins, pirates and princesses gathered at the Wallis City Hall Complex Halloween night for the annual Trunk or Treat event hosted by the Wallis Chamber of Commerce. More than 100 sugarcrazed children showed off their costumes to neighbors and feasted on freshly acquired candy Sunday, Oct. 31.

Scoops and Scholars hosted a touch-a-truck event with Sealy Fire Department representatives at the ice cream shop Saturday, Oct. 30.
