In the Oct. 28 edition of The Sealy News, incorrect pictures were printed. In the page-six feature story on Ashley Byars, a photo of her teammate was incorrectly identified as Byars. In the Austin County Fair tab inside that week’s edition, the Little Miss runner up listed as Maci Deutrich had the picture of another contestant. We apologize for any inconvenience or confusion this may have caused.

Jail Museum honors Brast

Body
The Austin County Jail Museum Association paid tribute to Chief Deputy Ervin G. Brast and his wife Norma Oct. 24 at the Museum. Deputy Brast served Austin County under Sheriff Marcus Steck from 1951-1952 and then as Chief Deputy under Sheriff Truman Maddox from 1953 until his untimely death at age 58 on June 26, 1967.

National FFA Convention

Sealy’s Avery Oliver placed third in the National FFA Convention in the Senior Prepared Public Speaking Contest. A member of Sealy High School’s Class of 2021 and a current member of Blinn College’s livestock team, she advanced from the district level in the spring then earned her trip to July’s state convention with a top finish at the Area level. Exhibit opening at San Felipe de Austin State Historic Site

The San Felipe de Austin State Historic Site (SHS), operated by the Texas Historical Commission, will open a new outdoor exhibit the weekend of November 13 and 14. The Villa de Austin is a collection of newly constructed buildings that recreate the historic aura of the town of San Felipe de Austin, the headquarters of Stephen F.

For the month of November, Mo Bros and Mo Sisters grow mustaches, engage in physical activities and attend events that help raise funds for prostate and testicular cancer as well as mental health and suicide awareness.
