Early voting has begun in Sealy and Wallis city council elections. Both have contested races that will be decided by voters during this election cycle.
Members of the Westside Narcotics Task Force (HIDTA) arrested a Louise High School coach and former coach with Columbus, Weimer and Rice Consolidated school districts on trafficking narcotics in the Colorado County area.
Due to an ongoing narcotics investigation, members of the Austin County Regional Special Response Team (SRT) arrested two suspects on federal arrest warrants. Kathleen Brown, 25 and Hunter Dernehl, 25, were arrested in Hempstead without incident.
The Blinn College District Board of Trustees approved new tuition and fee rates for the 2024-25 academic year during its regular meeting on Tuesday. Trustees approved an in-district tuition rate of $64 per semester credit hour, an out-of-district rate of $123 per semester credit hour, a non-resident rate of $279 per semester credit hour, and an $80 per semester credit hour general fee.
Sealy High School participated in the District 25 4A UIL Academics meet at different locations during the week of April 1-5, and several have advanced to the regional meet to be held April 27 at Texas A&M Corpus Christi.
