Twenty-four county students awarded A&M scholarships

Abby Aschenbeck, Karlie Babylon, Brooke Biehunko, Gabrielle Castaneda, Thomas Clark, Emersyn Cryan, Paige Demny, Jake Dickens, Emma Eckelberg, Grace Eschenburg, Emma Grace Fogle, Trinity Harding, Rachael Hohlt, Samuel Hranicky, Agnes Konvicka, Brooke Kram, Eli Kubicek, Stewart Poffenberger, Skyler Pyka, Nicholas Reichardt, Rylan Reichardt, and Emma Statham were selected as scholarship recipients from the Austin County A & M Club. Lauren Lassus was selected as the recipient of the Dr. Herbert Schumann Honorary Scholarship. Jackson Burttschell was selected as the recipient of the Joe Ed Burttschell Memorial Scholarship.

HIDTA nabs two in drug operation

Members of the Austin County Regional Special Response Team arrested two individuals for allegedly selling narcotics from a local hotel room. Authorities arrested James Pauley, 40 and Shawna Biscaro, 38, and charged the pair with manufacture and/or delivery of a controlled substance along with additional charges of possession of a controlled substance.

Blinn Veterinary Technology Program extends application deadline

The Blinn College District Veterinary Technology Program has extended its application deadline for fall 2024 admission through Tuesday, April 30. “We encourage individuals interested in becoming compassionate animal healthcare professionals to apply to our program,” said Jessica Salazar Garza, Veterinary Technology Program Director. “Our dedicated faculty, hands-on lab work, and partnership with Texas A&M create an innovative program that prepares our students to succeed on the national licensure exam and fill the need for licensed veterinary technicians in the workforce. As a result, our graduates usually complete the program with jobs lined up.”
