Sealy PD welcomes new cadet

Body

Sealy Police welcomed Police Cadet Hunter Crosby of Sealy to the team. Crosby was selected to attend the Gus George Law Enforcement Academy where he will achieve his Basic Peace Officer License later this year. Crosby will then begin an extensive six-month field training program with the agency before hitting the streets on his own.

Sealy Pregnancy Resource Center receives donation

Body
Saints Peter and Paul Council of Catholic Women generously donated $5,000 to the Sealy Pregnancy Resource Center for an upcoming Prayer Garden. The garden will be in memory of Ahlani Lozano, a baby of one of the center’s young moms. Ahlani passed away in September 2022 after battling liver disease from birth. The garden is scheduled to be completed this spring.

Day, Mikel, Griffin capture March primary victories

More than 6,000 Austin County voters cast votes Tuesday, March 5 in the Primary Election with numbers being released by the Austin County Clerk’s office Tuesday evening.  

For the unexpired term for Austin County District Clerk, Diane Day has won the Republican primary as she received 3,221 votes to Andrea Cardenas 1,701 votes.  

For County Commissioner for Precinct 1, Greg Mikel won the Republican primary by receiving 790 votes to James Harrison’s 486 votes.

Early voting numbers in on key Austin County races

More than 2.900 Austin County voters cast early voting in the March 5 Primary Election with numbers being released by the Austin County Clerk’s office Tuesday evening.  

For the unexpired term for Austin County District Clerk, Diane Day has received 1,590 votes to Andrea Cardenas 860 votes. Cardenas was appointed by Austin County commissioners to fill out the remaining term of the retiring Carrie Gregor.  

For County Commissioner for Precinct 1, Greg Mikel has received 501 early votes to James Harrison’s 282 votes.  

Sealy Planning Commission approves minor land plat

The Sealy Planning Commission approved the Minor Plat at a meeting last Wednesday, Feb. 14, subdividing a lot into two commercial lots The lot, about 1.906 acres, would be divided into two smaller parts for businesses. Commission members were recommended by Planning Director Mike Barrow to create one lot, Reserve A for Starbrite Electric Inc, covering about 1.053 acres. The other part, Reserve B, would be about 0.853 acres and would be empty for the time being.

Sealy PD welcomes new officer

The Sealy Police Department welcomes its newest patrol officer in Sean Aguilar.

Aguilar was sworn in last week by Sealy Police Chief Jay Reeves.

Aguilar graduated from the Houston Community College Police Academy in December and began his six-month field training program last week.

As it is the department’s tradition, Aguilar took his Oath of Office at the police department surrounded by family, fellow officers and other city staff.
