DPS’ Interdiction for the Protection of Children Program marks 15th anniversary

AUSTIN – This month, the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) recognizes the 15-year anniversary of its lifesaving Interdiction for the Protection of Children (IPC) program. Launched by DPS in April 2009, the IPC program trains frontline officers to recognize indicators that a child may be a victim, at-risk of victimization or missing and identify individuals who pose a highrisk threat to a child.

Blinn College reducing dual-credit tuition, offering no-cost courses to qualifying high school students

Beginning this fall, the Blinn College District will offer dual-credit courses at no cost to certain high school students through the state FAST (Financial Aid for Swift Transfer) Program and reduce the cost of dual-credit courses for all other students.

Traffic pursuit leads to arrest of Bellville man

An attempted traffic stop for a traffic violation led a Bellville man to be arrested after he attempted to flee from Sealy Police last week. Weston Starks, of Bellville, was charged with felony evading arrest with a motor vehicle, theft of property felony warrant x2, driving while licesne invalid with previous conviction, possession of marijuana and two Sealy Municipal Court traffic warrants.
