The Texas Department of Transportation released another update of their I-10 expansion project that included the reopening of the frontage road going eastbound. On Thursday, May 23, the contractor reopened the eastbound frontage road between County Road 92 and Bernardo Road.

Austin County recorded its first murder case of 2024 when a 17-year-old stands accused of murdering a 74-year-old woman. Kody Lowe, 17, was arrested May 24 and has been charged with the murder of Karen McAndrews, 74, by Austin County authorities.

In an effort to fill vital open positions in the district, the Brazos ISD Board of Trustees elected to name Dave Plymale as interim superintendent at this time and then take another look at the position at a later date.
