Developer updates future ‘Oxbow’ subdivision COM The Brazos Independent School District school board elected the unopposed trustee candidates, received an update on the future ‘Oxbow’ subdivision, approved a new administrative position and more during its meeting, Wednesday, March 26. BOARD ELECTION The board elected Position 1 school board trustee Jenny Stroud, Position 2 trustee Tammy McCain and Position 3 trustee Justin Richardson as the unopposed candidates for the May 2 school board election.

Bellville and Austin County are less than 30 days away from the Rock the Country festival that will take place at the county fairgrounds May 1-2. According to Larry Kuciemba, executive director with the Bellville Economic Development Corporation, the event is projected to have an economic impact of more than $16 million in the county.

DPS arrests man who fled scene of deadly accident

With use of the flock license plate recognition system, authorities were able to locate a man wanted after fleeing a deadly accident in Austin County March 31. Gerardo Mauricio Guzman Sagastume, 26, of Springfield, Virginia, was arrested and charged with failure to stop and render aid-death According to Department of Public Safety Sergeant Stephen Woodard, troopers were dispatched to a fatal accident on State Highway 36 near Frazer Road in Austin County.
