Citizens State Bank takes down building

Citizens State Bank took action last week and tore down the last of what were four buildings behind the downtown Sealy bank after deteriorating conditions inside the building were worsening. Ryan Svoboda, CFO of Citizens, said the building hadn’t been used in any bank capacity in years but went through asbestos abatement in 2013 when three adjoining buildings were taken down in favor of the parking lot.

Five Texas high school students rose to the top of their class as the winners of the eighth annual Culinary Arts Career Conference (CACC) Culinary Competitions, offered to students by the Texas Food & Wine Alliance (TFWA) earlier this month. Sealy’s Mariana Ponce was among the winners in the piping techniques category.

ACSO assists arrest on 529

Sunday, Nov. 7, the Austin County Sheriff’s Office was contacted to assist The Acadia Parish, Louisiana Sheriff’s Office with a murder investigation.

During the course of the investigation, Austin County Patrol officers and the Louisiana investigators discovered that Stephen Wayne Myers II was potentially hiding on a property located in the 8000 block of FM 529. The Austin County SRT was immediately activated and arrived on scene.

Sealy wins finale 43-0

The Sealy Tigers closed the regular season with a 43-0 win over the La Marque Cougars to secure the No. 2 seed from District 12-4A-D2 behind strong performances from members of the Class of 2022.

Sealy is set to face Silsbee in the bi-district round of the playoffs next week with details still to be determined as of postgame.

Unofficial results for Constitutional Amendment and BISD Bond elections

Voters made it out to their local polling locations yesterday, Nov. 2, to cast their ballots for the Texas Constitutional Amendment and Bellville ISD Bond elections. Unofficial results reveal that all eight constitutional amendments are poised to be approved by voters while the bond election for Bellville ISD was not approved.
