In February, the Extension Education Association of Austin County held its annual 2025 Cultural Arts Contest. Organized by the Cultural Arts Committee, the event was led by co-chairs Barney Zimmerman of the Bleiblerville EEA and Gaye Farr of the West End EEA. Committee members included Malinda Schramm, Claudia Cieslewicz, and Joan Buenger.

First Lady Abbott celebrates fulfilling more than 5,300 holiday wishes of Texas children in foster care

AUSTIN — First Lady Cecilia Abbott today celebrated the generosity of Texans serving Texans as more than 5,300 wish lists of Texas children in foster care have been filled through donations by state agency employees in this year’s Holiday Wishes program. Sponsored by the Governor’s Commission for Women and the State Agency Council, the annual Holiday Wishes program, coordinated through the nonprofit Partnerships for Children, helps ensure children in foster care across 31 counties in Central and South Central Texas have gifts to open on Christmas morning.

Blinn Board of Trustees authorizes architectural and construction manager services for Waller/Harris

Blinn begins development of an academic building at the Waller/ Harris County Campus and a sports and intramural zone on the Brenham Campus At its November 2024 regular meeting, the Blinn College District Board of Trustees authorized the College to seek qualifications for architectural services related to master planning and design and solicit proposals for construction manager at risk (CMAR) services for projects on the Blinn-Waller/Harris County Campus and Blinn-Brenham Campus. These projects include the development of an academic building at the Waller/ Harris County Campus and enhancements to the sports and intramural zone on the Brenham Campus.

Blinn College Foundation receives $5,000 gift from the Czech Education Foundation of Texas to support Czech language students

The Blinn College Foundation has received a generous $5,000 gift from the Czech Educational Foundation of Texas (CEFT) to support scholarships for students enrolled in Blinn College District Czech language courses.
