Brazos ISD provides equipment to parks

The Brazos ISD athletic department recently placed buckets of sports equipment at popular locations around town to promote physical activity for the rest of the summer. Head Football Coach/Athletic Director Ryan Roecker said it was the staff’s idea to help promote engagement with the younger members of the program and to keep them involved during the dog days of summer.

Five earn academic all-state

Brazos High School had five seniors honored with academic all-state distinction from the Texas High School Coaches Association and Texas Army National Guard when the lists were announced May 6. To be honored, student-athletes, trainers and managers had to be a senior in good standing with the team, of good moral character and had maintained an overall grade point average of 92 or above in all classes from grades 9-11 and courses completed in grade 12.

Townsend, Marek compete at state

Bellville and Brazos both had a lone representative at the Division 2 Texas High School Powerlifting Association State Championship at the Taylor County Expo in Abilene March 15. Alex Marek represented the Brahmas in the 198-pound weight class and finished fourth overall while Joey Townsend competed in the 165-pound weight class for the Cougars and earned 12th overall.
