Bright proud of Cougars, their fight this season

When Brazos prepared for its area playoff matchup with Orangefield, Brazos Head Baseball Coach Christopher Bright knew his Cougars were in for a battle of major proportions. And even though the Cougars were swept in the area round, Bright said he still believes this team left a legacy that will only make the program stronger in years to come.

Brazos takes home sixth place

The Brazos Cougars cross country team competed in the Shiner Comanche Cross Country Meet on Saturday in Shiner. The varsity girls team finished sixth in the 3A-4A Varsity Girls race with 123 points while the varsity boys finished sixth in the 3A-4A division with 139 points. Individually for the Brazos girls, Esmeralda Garcia placed first, Rubi Garcia finished 10th, Lily Bertrand was 33rd, Hannah Gonzalez 40th, Denise Hauer was 43rd, and Gracie Arteaga 54th. There were 67 runners and 10 teams in the race. Individually for the boys, Wesley Holub finished sixth, Rees Snedaker placed 20th, Bryan Pedroza was 23rd, Anthony Gonzales 51st, Gustavo Lara 54th, and Payton Nanez 64th. There were 80 runners and 11 teams in the race. In the junior varsity boys’ race, Jaime Gonzalez placed eighth, Eric King finished 26th, Logan Main was 29th, and Ramiro Cantu 39th.
