A flurry of season finales arrived at the end of last week where volleyball, football and cross country seasons came to an end for some Austin County sports teams. Coming into this week, the Brazos and Bellville volleyball squads were still alive in their respective postseason tournaments, Sealy and Bellville football will open their playoffs at the end of this week and all three public high schools had representatives at the UIL cross country State Championships last Friday and Saturday.

November 11. A day with as much significance to our country and our freedom as Independence Day. Yet, often overlooked other than a social media share or a promo special at a restaurant. November 11. Veterans Day.

Over the next 4-5 months, Sealy ISD will go through a strategic planning process. The purpose of strategic planning is to establish a clear vision for what we want Sealy ISD to become over the next five years, identify key levers to realize that vision, and set goals so we can measure progress and be accountable for the work.

Now that we have survived Red Ribbon Week, Halloween and the school day after Halloween (barely), it’s officially what is known at my house as Christmas List Season. This is the time of year that if my kids express a desire for something or even a need for something, they will be met with one of two auto-replies.

Now is the time to be heard by submitting your opinions and ideas to brighten Sealy’s future! The Sealy Economic Development Corporation, with the support of Sealy City Council, is asking our community members and business owners to take 10 minutes of your time to invest in the lifetime of vision for Sealy.

If you attended Tuesday’s EDC sponsored meeting with Betty Russo from the governor’s office or Wednesday’s city council meeting, you got a glimpse of the potential growth coming to Wallis. While some are excited to see changes and maybe have our town increase in population with new amenities, some are resistant and want to maintain the small-town feel.

With the approval of a majority of Texas voters, the Texas Constitution may be amended. To date, Texas voters have approved 507 amendments to the state Constitution since its adoption in 1876.

It’s Red Ribbon Week at school. This means clothing themes for each day to help build hype and support the message. Now don’t get me wrong, we love the message.
