Lions Sealy Dance Club to host event Oct. 4 The Lions Sealy Dance Club is having a dance on Saturday, Oct. 4, at the Sealy American Legion Hall located at 1630 Meyer St, Sealy. The SCOTT WILKINSON & EZ COUNTRY BAND, will be providing live music from 7:30 to 11 p.m. The public is always welcome.

Bellville — The Austin County Fair Association is rolling out the red carpet for its cherished senior community with a special event dedicated just to them. On Wednesday, Oct. 8, Senior Citizen Day will take place at the Bellville Fairgrounds, inside the EXPO Building (Women’s Building).

Austin County Feral Hog Bounty is still going on. The Bounty program is offered with the support of the Austin County Commissioners Court.

The Bluebonnet Master Gardeners of Austin County are pleased to present the 2025 Fall “Lunch-NLearn” series which is hosted on the third Tuesday of each month from August through November. Overall, the series features topics related to horticulture with homeowners and backyard gardeners in mind.

Sealy City Council reviewed holiday events, disapproved lot variances and approved other business during its meeting, Tuesday, Sept. 16. Mayor Carolyn Bilski reviewed the council meeting in an interview afterwards and described the meeting as straightforward and simple. Agenda items included upcoming holiday events, variances for lot requirements, ADA improvements for the W. E. Hill Community Center and amendments to the rules for Cryan Park.

FORNEY — Governor Greg Abbott ceremonially signed House Bill 20 and House Bill 120 into law to expand career and technical education opportunities for students across Texas. “Career training is a game-changer for our students, for our state, and for our employers,” said Governor Abbott.

John Murray Rowe Jr., 67, of Lead, South Dakota, was sentenced today to 126 months in prison followed by three years of supervised release and a $25,000 fine for attempted espionage. The defendant was charged by indictment in December 2021 and pleaded guilty in April of last year to one count of attempted delivery of national defense information to a foreign government, and three counts of willful communication of national defense information.
