Texas DPS named 2025 Leader of Police Aviation by International Association of Chiefs of Police

AUSTIN – The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) is proud to announce that its Aircraft Operations Division (AOD) has been named the recipient of the 2025 Leadership in Police Aviation Award by the International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP). The award was presented during the IACP Annual Awards Banquet at the Denver Convention Center on Tuesday, Oct. 21, as a part of the 2025 IACP Annual Conference.

Abbott appoints four to Board of the Texas Department of Motor Vehicles

AUSTIN – Governor Greg Abbott appointed Chase Cooley and reappointed Charles Bacarisse and Tammy McRae to the Texas Department of Motor Vehicles for terms set to expire on Feb. 1, 2031. Additionally, the Governor appointed Mark Roesler for a term set to expire on Feb. 1, 2029. The Texas Department of Motor Vehicles provides customer services that include vehicle registration, regulation of vehicle dealers, and grants to reduce vehicle burglaries and thefts, among others.

Abbott honors Live Oak County Sheriff Busby at Coastal Bend Peace Officers Association

GOLIAD — Governor Greg Abbott joined the Coastal Bend Peace Officers Association (CBPOA) and Operation Lone Star Taskforce to honor Live Oak County Sheriff Larry Busby for his 44 years of service. “Law enforcement officers at the local, state, and federal level do everything in their power to keep our state safe and enforce law and order,” said Governor Abbott.

Local AutoNation associates from BMW of Houston North recently delivered hope to pediatric cancer patients at Texas Children’s Hospital as the company deepens its year-round commitment to drive out cancer through DRV PNK. Associates united coast-to-coast to pack and deliver thousands of Totes for Hope bags to adult and pediatric cancer patients at hospitals and treatment centers nationwide. Patients at Texas Children’s Hospital received 25 totes filled with comfort items to support them while in treatment.
