At the Feb. 16 regular meeting of the Sealy City Council amidst the winter storms, council approved a bid for a 2020 Texas General Land Office (GLO) Generator project that would allow the city to gain an emergency generator for the city’s water well.

Texas Governor Greg Abbott today announced that the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has approved an additional 31 Texas counties to be added to the President’s Major Disaster Declaration for Individual Assistance. Austin County is among the additions.

Once the dust settled after the election filing deadline, two submitted names to run for Mayor of San Felipe and three more will run for the two Alderman positions on the May 1 general election ballot.

To begin the week, Austin County had an estimated 60 active cases of COVID-19 according to the Department of State Health Services which was a 31-case decrease from the previous week. Since the beginning of the pandemic, DSHS has recorded 1,515 total COVID-19 cases in Austin County but estimated 1,692 cases had been declared recovered.
