October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. I’m probably not telling you anything that you don’t already know. I mean, unless you’ve spent the last decade living under a rock then you know that October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. If you read your Sealy News last week then you know that October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. It is pink ribbons, pink out sporting events, Race for the Cure events, Bras for a Cause events, and fundraisers galore. But, other than causing a generation of people to link the color pink to breast cancer, what does this awareness thing really do?

Cooking well with diabetes

For anyone with Type 2 diabetes or just interested in healthy cooking ideas, the AgriLife’s Multi-County Cooking Well with Diabetes series is right around the corner. Austin, Colorado, Fayette and Washington Counties will be hosting an amazing four-week virtual program during the months of October and November (10/25, 11/1, 11/8, 11/15).

No fatalities to start week

For the first time since Aug. 23, Austin County had no new COVID-related fatalities reported to start this week according to numbers from the Department of State Health Services (DSHS) as of Monday at noon. Since the pandemic began, there have been 2,683 total confirmed cases of COVID-19 and 50 fatalities in the county.
