Applications are now being accepted for the 2022 Bluebonnet Master Gardener Intern Class which will be held in Bellville. For anyone interested in participating in the Master Gardener training program, the deadline to sign up is Thursday, Jan.

The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) graduated three new K-9 teams from a nine-week training program on Nov. 12. These K-9 teams will join more than 50 DPS Canine Detection Teams across Texas within DPS’ Texas Highway Patrol Division.

The Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) has awarded the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting to the Blinn College District for its comprehensive annual financial report for the 2020 fiscal year.

Anyone with a TDA Private Applicator License needs 15 Continuing Education Units (CEU) to recertify every five years, two hours in Laws & Regulations and two hours in Integrated Pest Management, with 11 hours in the General Category. All TDA Commercial and Non-Commercial Applicator License holders need five CEU every year to re-certify with one hour in Laws & Regulations and one hour in Integrated Pest Management, with three hours in the General Category.

Thanksgiving spirit was plentiful in Sealy last week as citizens worked together to ensure everybody had a chance to enjoy the holiday. Organizations like HOA Incorporated of Austin County Meals on Wheels and Saddleback Saloon Bar and Grill took unique approaches to make sure locals had an opportunity to enjoy a sense of community last Thursday.

Margaritas were flowing over the weekend as businesses in Downtown Sealy welcomed guests through their doors for the second annual Margaritas on Main event to celebrate Small Business Saturday. Despite the gloomy weather, shoppers came from Sealy and beyond to support local businesses and the Shops of Downtown Sealy.

The 35th annual Fantasy of Lights gets kicked off at the end of this week with fun-filled days scheduled for Friday, Saturday and Sunday, Dec. 3-5.
