Average price of gas in Texas rises 1.9 cents

Average gasoline prices in Texas have risen 1.9 cents per gallon in the last week, averaging $2.96/g today, according to GasBuddy’s survey of 13,114 stations in Texas. Prices in Texas are 1.1 cents per gallon lower than a month ago and stand 22.3 cents per gallon lower than a year ago. The national average price of diesel has fallen 6.9 cents in the last week and stands at $4.45 per gallon.

AC Fair, rodeo committee makes donation

The Austin County Fair and the Austin County Rodeo Committee each donated $1,000 to the local American Cancer Society chapter. These donations are based off the number of pink ribbons the Cancer Society hands out on the “Tough Enough to Wear Pink” Friday of the Fair.
San Felipe council receives update

Wallis council plans approach for drainage easements

WALLIS — Wallis City Council discussed and passed a motion, regarding an MIT Grant engineering plan and MIT Grant for sewer and I & I repair. The motion, crafted by Councilman James King is as follows: “Motion to approve, splitting the two grants up, and bidding the sewer I & I grant, in advance of the drainage one.
‘A decision may be made soon’

Austin County District Attorney Travis Koehn said that a decision may be made soon if there will be any arrests made in connection with the Jan. 16 incident at Lindemann’s Store involving a 65-year-old woman being held against her will and assaulted at the store.
Christmas for Teachers

Christmas in February. For a group of Sealy ISD teachers, the Sealy Education Foundation handed out the gift of learning through grants to teachers and classrooms through the school district last week.
