32nd Annual Kolache Klobase Festival, June 10 The 32nd annual Kolache Klobase Festival will be held Saturday, June 10, at Riverside Hall in East Bernard. Gates open at 10:30 a.m. and close at 8 p.m. This event brings people together to enjoy good music, good food, and to celebrate ethnic heritage and culture. This year’s entertainment lineup includes Ennis Czech Boys, Czech & Then Some, Dujka Brothers, Red Ravens and Al Sulak’s Country Sounds. The concert starts at 4:30 p.m. inside the hall. A kolache eating contest sponsored by KJT State Office is scheduled for 2 p.m. under the pavilion.

City closes down pool

After years of operation, the Irene LeBlanc Pool at Jacquelyn Cryan Park in Sealy has been closed indefinitely by city officials. “Last year alone the pool lost more than $130,000 and that’s not counting the maintenance and supplies that were used to keep the pool up and running,” said Sealy Mayor Carolyn Bilski.

SEALY CELEBRATES MEMORIAL DAY

American Legion Hall hosts Memorial Day event Veterans and citizens of Sealy held Memorial Day festivities at the American Legion Hall last Monday, commemorating the lives of fallen troops around the country and community. An introductory flag ceremony was held outside to kick off the program, followed by a gun salute and Taps performance by trumpet players Wyatt Martinez and Ahbab Pinon.
