Austin County law enforcement hosts active shooter training

Austin County law enforcement and emergency response agencies held an active shooter training drill at Bellville Junior High School on June 15. With the recent increase and onslaught of school shootings across the country, the drill was conducted to help better educate students and staff on what to do and expect in case of a tragic situation like this.

First Lady Cecilia Abbott celebrated the critical role women business leaders and entrepreneurs play in Texas’ economic success at the Round Rock Chamber’s inaugural “Women Who Mean Business” luncheon. Addressing more than 150 business and community leaders, the First Lady highlighted Texas’ 1.25 million women-owned businesses as a driving force of the state’s economy and encouraged women to invest in themselves, their businesses, and communities to inspire the next generation of Texas women.

Blinn vocational nursing student finds support from family, instructors, and St. Joseph Health Center

Anna Morehead is a big believer that “it takes a village.” That adage is usually completed with “to raise a child,” but Morehead said it also applies to her as she nears completion of the Blinn College District’s Vocational Nursing Program. Morehead, from the small Milam County community of Milano, will graduate in August from Blinn’s blended online program, which allows students to complete their theory coursework online while attending face-toface clinical and laboratory experiences.
