1 in 4 Texas traffic deaths occur in oil and gas production regions THE ISSUE • Our state’s energy sector is vital to many communities throughout the state and the Texas economy, but oil and gas production activity can also bring challenges to our transportation system. These include an increase in traffic and the effects on our roads caused by large trucks and machinery sharing the road with passenger vehicles.
