DPS Crime Laboratory cracks 1996 cold case murder

AUSTIN – Using modern evidence testing, the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) Crime Laboratory Division has now identified the man investigators believe is responsible for the decades-old cold case murder of 86-year-old Mary Moore Searight in Paris, Texas. On Dec. 12, 2024, nearly 30 years after her death, David Paul Cady Jr., 54, was indicted by a Lamar Co. grand jury.

Civic Chorale starting rehearsals The Austin County Civic Chorale has begun rehearsals for their 40th season Spring performance in April. Interested singers are encouraged to attend. No audition is required. The Chorale meets on Thursdays from 6:30-8 p.m. at Faith Academy, in the new elementary building #7. DPS increases enforcement for Sunday’s big game

AUSTIN – The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) reminds football fans, and anyone out on the roads, to drive responsibly ahead of Super Bowl LIX this weekend. As the Kansas City Chiefs and Philadelphia Eagles compete for the Lombardi Trophy on Feb. 9, DPS will be increasing enforcement efforts statewide to ensure everyone has a safe Super Bowl weekend.
