Sealy Police Sergeant John Fullen read to the Selman Elementary students last week for Read Across America Week. The theme of this year’s Read Across America is a Nation of Readers. Read Across America, launched by the National Education Association (NEA) in 1998, is an annual event designed to promote a love of reading among children and young adults. It takes place every year on March 2, in honor of Dr. Seuss's birthday, though celebrations often extend throughout the week.

The 2025 Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo (HLSR) theme is '100 Years of Houston'. The HLSR is a family-friendly event that celebrates Western heritage, promotes agriculture, and supports Texas youth.
