High fashion on display at Historical Society’s ‘Night in the 1930’

High fashion from the 1930s was in abundance at the Sealy Area Historical Society’s “A Night in the 1930s” on Feb. 15 at Emery’s Buffalo Creek Winery. On the stage were authentic vintage fashions from the 1930s, including everything from summery sundresses to formal evening gowns. Music from the 1930s accompanied the fashion show. While guests dined, dance scenes clipped from 1930s movies were projected on the stage Models participating in the fashion show included students from Sealy ISD’s drama department and several local residents. On the runway were Summer Garcia, Virginia Gilbert, Hayden Hartman, Hillary Kotwal, Kaitlyn Kloss, Erin Kramptiz, Isabella Merryman, Ansley Owen, Holley Singer, and Ria Torres. Students from Sealy High School volunteered as servers and model assistants. The event was a fundraiser for the Sealy Area Historical Society with all funds going toward restoration of the 1920s Bozeman House recently moved to the Sealy Historical Park.

Local scouting volunteers Honored at 4th Annual Coastal Plains District Awards Dinner

The Coastal Plains District of the Sam Houston Area Council and Scouting America celebrated the dedication, leadership, and service of its volunteers, community partners, and outstanding Scouts during the 4th Annual Coastal Plains District Awards Dinner. The event held last Saturday, at Fort Bend Knights of Columbus 2801 Hall in Rosenberg, recognized individuals and organizations that have made significant contributions to Scouting and youth development in the region.

Improved parking set for Hill Center

The chamber has fielded a lot of questions about what’s going on at the Hill Center. The Sealy TX Economic Development Corporation is adding improved parking for the community. The W.E. Hill Community Center parking lot will expand from 68 spaces to 102. The construction is expected to be completed in late March, weather permitting. The Sealy Economic Development Corporation is honored to fund this improvement for Sealy.
