With the support of a $25,000 grant from the Lower Colorado River Authority and Bluebonnet Electric Cooperative, St. John Lutheran Church in New Ulm will upgrade playground equipment and make other improvements at its community park.

Students from Austin County schools participated in the Austin County Soil and Water Conservation District poster and essay contest. This year’s theme was “Healthy Soils: Healthy Life.”.

The second annual Mudbugs on Main "all-you-can-eat" crawfish event was held this past Saturday, May 14, hosted by Patches and the Shops of Downtown Sealy.

Roads were closed in the Sealy Main Street district for the event, and the crawfish was cooked by Brenton Slusser, owner of The SlussShack Daiquiris To Go. D.J. Dilly Billy spun tunes for the crowd, and the Bubba Westly Band provided live music for crawfish-munchers.

Wallis 4-H Club recently honored their graduating seniors.

They are Hayden Vykukal of Brazos High School, Samantha Diezi of Bellville High School, and Sierra Kovar of Brazos High School.

Additions were made to the mural at The Donut Palace recently, after being approved by the Sealy City Council on April 19. New Characters and wording have been added to the building, located at 130 Meyer Street. RAE DRADY

Officials and family who gathered to dedicate the new Gary Kollatschny Animal Control Facility in Sealy said the building is a fitting memorial to a man who put animals and the city first. “It’s a very special occasion for all of us,” said Sealy Police Chief Jay Reeves Friday, April 22.
