Sealy ISD track had records broken last week at the junior high and high school level.

Despite a 2-0 loss to first-place Bellville earlier this week, the Sealy Lady Tiger soccer squad locked up second place from District 20-4A heading into the playoffs and will face the third seed from District 19.

Last week, an undercover narcotics task force comprised of Sealy Police Department, Austin County Sheriffs Office and others apprehended subjects at the Murphy’s gas station on Schmidt Road in Sealy.

Ahead of the early voting period for the May 1 general election, The Sealy News will once again be hosting candidate forums for readers to get to know who is running for what office. Each candidate will be interviewed individually on Facebook Live and all of the recorded conversations will be combined to make one comprehensive video of all of the candidates’ answers.

While Gov. Gregg Abbott has lifted the statewide mandate to wear a mask in public and allowed all businesses to operate at full capacity, many businesses, schools and other entities say they will continue to require that masks be worn. Abbott issued the order last week, effective March 10.

Earlier this month, Bellville Medical Center announced Renee Poulter was named as the Community and Clinical Coordinator for TriCounty ER, an emergency department of BMC in Sealy. As BMC has expanded services, Tri-County ER has played an increasingly important role in the provision of healthcare in Sealy.
