Sealy Knights of Columbus Council 3313 felt the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic restrictions in 2020 which resulted in a reevaluation of our program plans and how can they continue to be involved in their many programs, including our local Austin County and Sealy community programs.

The Sealy basketball teams had multiple athletes honored with all-district distinction following the 2020-2021 season where the Tigers finished fourth and the Lady Tigers sixth. For the Tigers, senior Donte Beasley was named the District 24 Defensive MVP, and classmates Jacob Gajewski (first-team all-district) and Nick Martinez (second-team all-district) each made a team.

The Sealy Tiger track teams hosted the annual Sammy Dierschke Relays at T.J. Mills Stadium and Sealy Junior High School last Thursday and came away with both team titles as well as new school records.

The Texas High School Powerlifting Associations will have Austin County representatives at the state championship meet, two in the boys’ competition and one in the girls’ competition. After finishing in the top two in their class at the respective regional championships, Bellville’s Alex Marek and Brazos’ Joey Townsend and Halie Gonzalez punched their tickets to the top meet in the state.

The Sealy Tiger soccer teams split their regular-season finales against the Royal Falcons last Friday and locked in the postseason picture ahead of the bi-district round starting March 26. Both squads will be off for Spring Break and will hit the practice field next week ahead of the playoff opener.

The Sealy Lady Tiger golf team earned third place from the Bellville Tournament last Tuesday. Sealy competed against teams from Smithville, La Grange and Bellville as well as individuals from Lexington, Navasota and Faith Academy.

Sealy High School alum and current Sam Houston State Bearkat Clayton Fritsch competed in his third NCAA Indoor National Championship last weekend and earned seventh place overall to grab his third All-American honor in what was his final indoor season.
