Bellville and Brazos both had a lone representative at the Division 2 Texas High School Powerlifting Association State Championship at the Taylor County Expo in Abilene March 15. Alex Marek represented the Brahmas in the 198-pound weight class and finished fourth overall while Joey Townsend competed in the 165-pound weight class for the Cougars and earned 12th overall.

The Sealy Lady Tigers won the seventh annual Archie Seals Relays hosted at Bellville High School last Thursday, March 25, while the Tigers finished as runners-up. Sealy High School hosted the District 24-4A Championships this week to determine the Area qualifiers.

Sealy Junior High’s Gavin Almaguer recently broke his own record in the 2400-meter run and collected his third record-breaking performance this year. Almaguer set the record earlier this month at 8:06.94 and re-set it with a time of 7:55 last Wednesday at T.J. Mills Stadium. CONTRIBUTED PHOTO

The Sealy Tiger spring tennis team collected top finishes from the Wharton Tournament last week and earned two gold medals, a silver medal and two more bronze medals in the antepenultimate match before the District 24-4A Championship April 12 and 13.
