Sealy boys bounce back

The Sealy High School Tigers’ varsity baseball team has its sights set on finishing the regular season as high in the standings as possible before the postseason begins. The top spot in the district seems to be out of reach for the Tigers after they suffered an early week defeat to first-place Bellville, but they responded with a win in their next game against Wharton to keep their place at second secure.

Brandes signs with Texas State

Body
Last Tuesday, Sealy High School senior Breanna Brandes signed her National Letter of Intent to run track and field for the Texas State Bobcats after graduation. Brandes set and extended the school record in the pole vault to 11’ 7” this season and was recently crowned the District 24 and Area 3/4 champion to advance to the Region III Championship, one step away from a return trip to state.

Police wins second straight exhibition

Austin County first responders once again stepped into the limelight on the diamond during last weekend’s third annual Guns N’ Hoses softball tournament in Bellville. Teams made up law enforcement representatives from Bellville Police and Austin County Sheriff’s Office and fire/EMS personnel from Bellville and Sealy Fire as well as Austin County EMS squared off in an exhibition contest before the bracket-style tournament.
