The Sealy Tigers boys’ varsity basketball team got started immediately in their matchup versus the Fayetteville Lions and cruised past the Rice Consolidated Raiders. They’ve shown throughout the Schulenburg Hoops Summer League that they can score and play defense at a high level when they dedicate the effort and were very effective on June 20.
For the first time in quite a few years the Sealy High School varsity cheer squad had sixteen girls participate in Universal Cheerleaders Association camp and the results did not disappoint. The girls worked together and earned a gold ribbon for their efforts and attention to detail.
The Brazos Independent School District Board of Trustees met June 14 to discuss a revised proposal request regarding the weight room and concession stand construction project. President Myles Marek called the meeting to order at 6 p.m., members present were Brian Demny, Tiffani Shirley, Dale Divin, and Justin Richardson via zoom. Tammy McCain was absent.
Students involved in athletics spend a bit more time in the summer heat than average young people due to training for their respective sports, however, proper hydration is essential to everyone, especially from June through August in Texas. With temperatures reaching triple digits at times, it’s impossible to feel relief from only one or two bottles of water on a daily basis.
As the first day of Lady Tiger Advanced Basketball Camp at Sealy High School gymnasium on June 20 came to a close, the lady tigers looked to varsity coach Brateicka Mock in exhaustion after running suicides up and down the basketball court. Campers had a full day that consisted of dribbling, team concepts, defense, and shooting drills.
The third annual Camp Invention began June 13 at Sealy Elementary School at 9 a.m. Monday morning. The S.T.E.M. (science, technology, engineering, math) camp provides students in kindergarten through sixth grade with supplies and materials to participate in activities that challenge their creativity. The camp mostly consists of students from Sealy Elementary School and Selman Elementary School but is available to students all over Austin County.
In the early ’90s, the Detroit Pistons made headlines and haters with their rough edge and demonstrative manner on defense. Their glorified “Jordan Rules” was an example of what measures they were willing to take to win, by any means necessary. The Sealy Tigers junior varsity basketball team was no different in their approach in both matchups Monday evening June 13 at the Hoops Summer League in Schulenberg.
The Sealy Independent School District Board met June 13 to discuss defining moments in the school district, impact, innovations, celebrations, goals, and plans for the next school year. They were passionate about how some goals have been reached while others have taken longer than expected but expressed that failing isn’t an option.
