AUSTIN – On Saturday, June 14, the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) responded to a planned and well-publicized protest at the Texas State Capitol and Downtown Austin and, working alongside our partners at the Austin Police Department (APD), made numerous arrests to keep demonstrators, the public and property safe.

The Arc of Katy, a Katybased nonprofit organization that provides opportunities for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) to be included as respected and active members of the community, is pleased to announce the appointment of Sandy August as its new Executive Director, effective July 14, 2025. A respected leader in the nonprofit sector, Mrs. August brings nearly two decades of experience driving growth, cultivating meaningful partnerships, and advancing missions that serve others.

During June, the Austin County Extension Education Association (EEA) hosted an engaging and impactful educational program titled “Empowering Communities through AmeriCorps.” Led by Ada Eben and Project Coordinator Tiffanie Young, the presentation highlighted the important work AmeriCorps members do in communities across Texas. Attendees learned about the wide range of educational programs offered through the organization, including disaster preparedness, opioid addiction awareness, and public health initiatives. The presentation emphasized the importance of collaboration and education in strengthening communities and building resilience among residents.

At its May 28 meeting, the Brazos ISD Board of Trustees approved the appointment of Greg Graham as Principal of Brazos Middle School. Graham brings over 15 years of experience in education, including the past year serving as a teacher and coach at Brazos Middle School.
