The Brazos Cougars picked up their fourth district win and their first district loss of the season after their last two games. The Cougars took on the East Bernard Brahmas and the Hitchcock Bulldogs recently and came away with one win and one loss in those games.

Sealy Junior High School sixth grade pre-athletics teacher Malik Robinson has been nominated for National Life Group’s 2025-26 LifeChanger of the Year award. The Texas Department of Transportation held a Sealy Relief Route Feasibility Study meeting last week to explore a potential relief route around the city of Sealy. The purpose of the relief route is to help reduce congestion, while also improving safety and mobility.

An Austin County jury took 90 minutes on Jan. 28 to convict Joseph Mesa of Sealy on seven felony offenses after a week-long trial in Bellville.

AUSTIN – The Lower Colorado River Authority recently awarded $1,096,247 in grants to support community projects across LCRA’s wholesale electric, water and transmission service areas. LCRA Community Grants will help fund 41 projects, including major upgrades to the El Progreso Memorial Library in Uvalde, purchase of a new brush truck for the Muldoon Volunteer Fire Department in Fayette County, purchase of a swift-water rescue boat for the Concan Volunteer Fire Department and upgrades to the new emergency operations center in Colorado County.

AUSTIN – Earlier this week, the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) officially opened its new Aircraft Operations Division (AOD) hangar in Edinburg with a ribbon- cutting ceremony. The event on Monday celebrated a major expansion of DPS’ aviation capabilities in the South Texas Region, as the new facility is the largest DPS hangar in the state and is now fully operational. DPS’ South Texas leadership was joined at the ceremony by State Senator Juan Hinojosa and Representative Terry Canales.
