AC Pecan Show crowns champions

The Austin County Pecan Show for the 2025 crop year was judged on Tuesday, December 6th at the Austin County Extension Office in Bellville. Dr. Philip Shackelford judged fifty-five entries. Pecans were judged on weight before and after shelling, on the color of the pecan meat, on the absence of insect defects, and on how easily they shell out. This is a free contest for any resident who has a pecan tree, whether it’s in your yard, your pasture, or an orchard.

Christmas in the Sealy Historical Park

Christmas was in full display on December 5 and 13 in the Sealy Historical Park. Beautiful and fun for all ages, two events were produced by the Sealy Area Historical Society. All of the buildings in the Park were decorated with trees and special Christmas touches. The 1927 Atchison, Topeka & Santa Fe caboose was sprinkled with “conductors” of all sorts, including Barney, Mickey Mouse, and a gorilla with a Union Pacific cap.

New Years Eve dance priced at $75 per ticket with included steak dinner and shrimp meal and entertainment provided by the Red Bulls band. Doors open at 5:30 p.m.

U.S. authorities shut down Chinalinked AI tech smuggling network

Two businessmen are now in custody for allegedly violating U.S. export control and smuggling laws. As part of the overall investigation, a Houston company and its owner also pleaded guilty to smuggling cutting-edge Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology out of the United States, and the United States has seized over $50 million in Nvidia technologies and cash.
