Leaving the land better: Kenneth McAlister and a lifetime of soil stewardship

The cotton stripper rattled to a stop at the edge of the field, dust hanging in the air as the engine idled. Kenneth McAlister climbed down from the cab, boots hitting the soil he’s spent a lifetime working to protect. He didn’t need an office or a conference room for this conversation. The field, mid-harvest, alive with purpose, was exactly where it belonged.

We continue this week looking at the biblical story of Cain and Abel (Gen 4:1-17), specifically observing the actions God takes (and does not take) concerning the question of why He may possibly allow evil to exist in the world. According to the biblical narrative, Cain kills his brother Abel in an act of unquenchable jealousy. In response to Cain committing the first murder in history, God acts in several significant ways, and it is from these subsequent actions that we might glimpse possible reasons why God may have allowed evil to exist in this particular case.

Faith Academy announces Q2 honor roll /perfect attendance/music awards

Faith Academy students were recognized academically at their respective Chapel services on Monday, January 12th. After morning worship, K-5 Director Jennifer McCutcheon welcomed the elementary students and staff, as well as the many parents and grandparents attending. She explained that in the first semester, with the help of the teachers, each other, and God’s word, the students learned about being kind, and learning and using self-control. Moving on in this new year, new semester, the students will be working on understanding and practicing perseverance. They have been learning that without perseverance, they may not have much to celebrate at this awards chapel today. In closing the elementary chapel, the prayer was given by Aria Villarreal.
