As the National Honor Society observes its 100th year, Faith Academy high school celebrated its nineteenth induction of members to its chapter of NHS on Monday, September 26th. The service-based scholastic club was honored to host Mrs. Stacy Woodley as their guest speaker and enjoyed her dynamic exhortation to remember that although grades earned the membership, service is the heart of NHS. Merlene Byler, administrator of Faith Academy, and David Kuespert, FA Board Treasurer, presented membership pins to new members Renee DeVoke, Cash Eckermann, Georgia Johnson, Lillian Kuespert, Alyza Marcotte, Ja’Kasia Ragston, Sophia Scholten, Laynie Spitzer, Andrew Stolz, and Travis Woodley. Members also installed the 20222023 officers: President Jonah Taake, Vice-President Chesney Johnston, Secretary Rachel Kuespert, Treasurer Eli Kubicek, and Chaplain Jacob Wallace.

The Clayton Schavrda Memorial was recognized during the special recognitions portion of the Sealy City Council meeting on Oct. 4. Bilski shared they all missed Schavrda in the presence of his mother, Chris Beckendorff who was at the meeting.

Disc golf may be less than a month away in Sealy. Members of the Sealy Rotary Club and the Sealy Chamber of Commerce held a ground-breaking ceremony Tuesday, Oct.

When anyone thinks about the history of girls’ softball in Sealy, many will point to the Sealy Sandbaggers as the focal starting point for the sport in the area. The Sealy Sandbaggers, a ladies’ softball team, was organized in 1972 and set the stage for the sport gaining steam and popularity throughout this region.

The donations are starting to come in and now it is known who the seven models that will be showing off the bras in this year’s Bras for Cause event. The Blinn College District Board of Trustees received a preliminary enrollment report last week indicating that fall 2022 registration has increased over last year’s figures. Dr. Becky McBride, Vice Chancellor for Student Services, shared that as of Monday, Sept. 12, Blinn’s unofficial fall enrollment was 17,255 students, a 2.52% increase from the same time period last year. This included a 3.08% increase in contact hours, which is included in the formula to determine state funding.
