Miller declares agricultural emergency, mobilizes TDA aid for storm victims

AUSTIN – Texas Agriculture Commissioner Sid Miller today announced a declaration of an agricultural emergency for Parker and Wise counties following a series of severe storms that brought destructive winds, tornadoes, heavy rainfall, hail, and localized flooding, leaving a trail of damage across farms, ranches, and rural infrastructure. In response, the Texas Department of Agriculture is activating the State of Texas Agricultural Relief Fund (STAR Fund) and other TDA disaster resources to provide disaster relief to affected agricultural producers.

Opening doors: Collaboration brings care closer to home in Burton

Washington County embarked upon new frontiers in health care access today with an open house in Burton, Texas. Texas A&M University Health Science Center (Texas A&M Health) and Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center (TTUHSC) joined with community members to celebrate the newest Texas A&M BUILD clinic. The 40-foot, retrofitted shipping container — a Texas Aggie Medical Clinic (TAMC) — will provide innovative health care options for the Washington County community, supporting a collaborative model in which TTUHSC and Texas A&M Health will provide telehealth-enabled primary and behavioral care in a rural community where residents have traditionally driven miles to access medical services.

Abbott announces Texas Semiconductor Innovation Fund Grant to AOI

AUSTIN - Governor Greg Abbott announced that a Texas Semiconductor Innovation Fund (TSIF) grant of $20,852,518 has been extended to Applied Optoelectronics, Inc. (AOI) for an expansion of their manufacturing capacity in Sugar Land. The expansion represents more than $279 million in capital investment and is expected to create 500 jobs.

Touring Broadway drives $5.7 billion in economic impact across US

The report highlights how touring Broadway productions generate substantial direct spending by producers, presenters and venues, while drawing audiences into downtown districts where they support local restaurants, hotels and retail businesses.

Abbott, HHSC announce $99 million in federal funding for rural hospitals to recruit workers
