Be advised that the city of Sealy Health Inspector has inspected the following establishments for food preparation, kitchen cleanliness, and sanitary conditions: 1. Subway #48730 – (6023 FM 3538) May 12 – 1. Must dust the top of the toaster. The floor must be cleaned. Grade – 98 2. Fuel Maxx #114 – (207 N Meyer St) May 12– 1. All shelves must be wiped down. All inventory must be 6” off floor in store and cooler. The bottom of the coolers in the store must be cleaned. Must have food handlers within 2 weeks. Must keep all food in the freezer covered in the cooking area. Grade – 92 3. WildCat Express – (6025 FM 3538) May 12 – 1. Soda nozzles must be soaked every day. All inventory must be 6” off the floor. Must clean behind the slushy machine. Cover all food in the freezer in the back. Grade - 96

DAR Chapter donates books to Sealy schools

Members of the John Everett Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) in Columbus recently donated Texas Before the Lone Star to elementary schools across Austin and Colorado counties. The book was created at the direction of Texas State Regent Susan Johnston as part of DAR’s celebration of America’s 250th anniversary, with the goal of placing a copy in every Texas public elementary school.

ACTRA awards four scholarship

The Austin County Retired Teachers Association, a local unit of the Texas Retired Teachers Association, is awarding four scholarships to local Austin County high school graduates this year. The scholarships were initiated in 2015 when the association began supporting local students interested in pursuing the teaching profession. This year there are two recipients from Bellville High School and two recipients from Sealy High School.
