TxDOT warning drivers of spike in texting scams

AUSTIN – Texting scams are targeting toll customers in Texas saying they’re from TxTag, and the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) is warning everyone to be on the lookout. There have been multiple reports of TxTag customers receiving text messages claiming to have a balance due or past due.

Annual Kulhanek Family Reunion set for Sept. 22 The Annual Kulhanek Family Reunion will be held on Sunday, Sept. 22. The day will begin with a 10 a.m. Memorial Mass at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Fayetteville. After mass the group will gather at Heh, Remember When located at 3031 FM-1291, Ste 200, Fayetteville, for lunch and fellowship. Bring a favorite dish to share for a potluck luncheon which will begin at 12:30 p.m. Bread, tea, and fruit punch will be provided.
ACSO investigating death of 20-year-old man

According to incident reports, in the early morning hours of Sept. 16, deputies were dispatched to a man being found not conscious. Medics and deputies were dispatched to the locations and found a subject receiving CPR from a relative.
Deputies resumed the CPR, but it was stopped when it was determined the man was dead at the scene.
Initial reports indicate the man had been crushed or run over by some type of vehicle.
Investigation results in seven drug-related arrests

Over the past week, the Austin County Regional Special Response Team (SRT) executed multiple search and arrest warrants because of a long-term investigation led by the Westside Narcotics Task Force (HIDTA).
City officials prepared, ready for growth

All the indicators are pointing towards Sealy, doubling its population in the coming year, and city schools and officials are working hard to stay ahead of this growth spurt that seems to be headed this way.
Prasek’s raises funds for CASA

In an effort to raise funds for a worthwhile cause and have a little fun doing it, Prasek’s Sealy held a cornhole tournament to benefit CASA, court appointed child advocates for Austin County. A check presentation was made last week at Prasek’s Sealy for $2,270 that was raised during the event which was held during the 50th anniversary celebration.
