AUSTIN — Texas Secretary of State Jane Nelson today drew the ballot order for the 17 proposed amendments to the Texas Constitution. Texans will vote on these amendments as a part of the November 4 Election.

For the third time in the last two years, the city of Brookshire is searching for a police chief after their current chief resigned the post Wednesday, June 18. Brookshire Mayor Robert Richards confirmed that Police Chief James Hines tendered his resignation Tuesday, June 17.

AUSTIN — Of 545 available oyster licenses, Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD) received 115 commercial oyster boat license offers in round nine of its Oyster License Buyback Program, which, if all applicants participate, would represent a reduction by 21 percent of total oyster licenses in the state.

Two Bellville graduates were listed on The University of Texas at Tyler students who were named to the spring 2025 President’s Honor Roll. Bellville’s Emmie Defrates, College of Arts & Sciences and Carissa Foster, Soules College of Business were named to the President’s Honor Roll.

For the third straight year, the All for One Festival was held in Sealy. This year, the festival moved to 807 San Felipe Road in Sealy but once again was hosted by Albert “Lucky” Lane. “The name All for One means a lot to me,” said Lane. “It means all of us as a community can come together and have a great time. I was asked in an email “What part of the community will be invited?” I didn’t like the question because I never had plans to eliminate any part of our community from participating. Shortly after being asked that I renamed the festival “Sealy Texas All For One.”
