DPS, neighboring states team up in Joint Enforcement Operation

AUSTIN – The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) is partnering with the Arkansas State Police, Louisiana State Police, New Mexico State Police and the Oklahoma Highway Patrol to conduct a joint one-day enhanced enforcement operation this week. During this collaborative effort, which will take place from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Wednesday, May 14, Troopers will be focused on drivers violating their respective state’s Move Over, Slow Down laws.

Kitzman passes HB 43 to increase relief to Texas farmers' bill

AUSTIN – House Bill 43 by State Representative Stan Kitzman passed the Texas House with overwhelming support in a vote of 131-13. HB 43, a priority of the Texas House, will give a boost to struggling state agriculture producers and expand opportunities within existing financial support programs of the Texas Agricultural Finance Authority (TAFA).

Sealy residents express gratitude for new stop signs

Multiple Sealy residents voiced their approval of the new stop signs on Main St., with council members voting in favor of keeping them as well as adding additional speed limit signs at their recent city council meeting May 6. Locals Erin Krampitz, Jim Brooks, Annabelle Lerma and Diane Abel all signed up to make public comments addressing the ongoing issue, all thanking council members for listening to their concerns about the dangers of speeding on Main St.

A WELL-LOVED TREE

A well-loved tree was moved from the site of the old Azalea Manor Nursing Home located on the northeast corner of Meyer Street (State Hwy 36) and Columbus Road to the Sealy Historical Park at 211 East Main Street. No one is certain of the exact year the saucer Magnolia tree, also known as a tulip Magnolia, was planted, and no one is certain who planted the tree.
