Austin County FFAs step up with donations for flood victims

Two Austin County FFA chapters have already started projects aimed at helping families in the Hill Country region that have been devastated by flooding. 

Brazos FFA and Sealy FFA are both holding gift card drives that will be sent directly to affected families in the region.

AUSTIN — For the fourth year in a row, several Texas cities ranked in the top ten globally during the City Nature Challenge (CNC), one of the world’s largest community science events. This year, fourteen Texas metropolitan areas participated in the challenge and logged a whopping 342,913 observations.

Abbott announces Texas Semiconductor Innovation Grant to MGC Pure Chemicals America, Inc.

AUSTIN – Governor Greg Abbott announced that a Texas Semiconductor Innovation Fund (TSIF) grant of $5.3 million has been extended to MGC Pure Chemicals America, Inc. (MPCA) for an expansion of their production facility in Killeen, which is expected to create more than $150 million in capital investment.

Texas wins 12th Gold Shovel Award for outstanding job creation, business investment

AUSTIN – Governor Greg Abbott celebrated Texas being recognized with the state’s 12th Gold Shovel Award by Area Development magazine for outstanding achievement in job creation and capital investment in 2024. Texas has now been recognized with a Gold or Silver Shovel in each of the 20 years of the award program.
