AUSTIN – Texas Agriculture Commissioner Sid Miller today announced a declaration of an agricultural emergency for Parker and Wise counties following a series of severe storms that brought destructive winds, tornadoes, heavy rainfall, hail, and localized flooding, leaving a trail of damage across farms, ranches, and rural infrastructure. AUSTIN - Governor Greg Abbott announced that a Texas Semiconductor Innovation Fund (TSIF) grant of $20,852,518 has been extended to Applied Optoelectronics, Inc. (AOI) for an expansion of their manufacturing capacity in Sugar Land. The expansion represents more than $279 million in capital investment and is expected to create 500 jobs.

The Broadway League reports that touring Broadway productions generated $5.7 billion in economic impact nationwide, according to its Economic Impact of Touring Broadway 2023– 2024 report released earlier this month. The report highlights how touring Broadway productions generate substantial direct spending by producers, presenters and venues, while drawing audiences into downtown districts where they support local restaurants, hotels and retail businesses.
