AUSTIN — Governor Greg Abbott announced over $26 million in grant funding for infrastructure projects in military communities through the Texas Military Preparedness Commission’s (TMPC) Defense Economic Adjustment Assistance Grant (DEAAG) program.

The Texas State Soil and Water Conservation Board (TSSWCB) is pleased to announce the appointment of Kendria Ray as the agency’s new Executive Director, effective June 1. In January 2026, Rex Isom announced his retirement, closing a career spanning over 38 years with TSSWCB, including 23 years as Executive Director.

The program is now accepting letters of intent under the authority of Texas Agriculture Code, Chapter 58, to provide targeted financial assistance for programs designed to strengthen Texas’ agricultural defenses and reduce losses for producers across the state.

A Spring Cleanup volunteer litter pickup event on the Mill Creek Watershed will be held on May 9, in Bellville. This event is presented by the Mill Creek Watershed Partnership, Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service, and the Texas State Soil and Water Conservation Board.
