The Texas Association of Basketball Coaches recently handed out four prestigious awards to members of the Blinn College men’s and women’s basketball programs. Blinn head women’s basketball coach Jeff Jenkins and assistant coach Antreanna Brooks and assistant men’s basketball coach Adam Schwartz were honored with coaching accolades while sophomore women’s basketball player Tiffany Tullis was also recognized for her achievements in 202223.

Wernecke overcomes obstacles to shine on athletic fields for Sealy With all his accolades on the football, track and baseball field of competitions, there is one play that stood out this senior season for Haden Wernecke. On the first place from scrimmage in Sealy’s 41-18 loss to Cuero, Cuero quarterback Mason Notaro ran a keeper to the left side for a nice 11-yard gain to the Gobbler 38.

An amazing season of Blinn College baseball came to a close in the NJCAA Division I Baseball World Series. The eighth-ranked and fifth-seeded Buccaneers were eliminated in the tournament semifinal round, falling to Weatherford College 12-2 in five innings on Thursday at Sam Suplizio Field in Grand Junction, Colo.

Sealy athletes were honored recently as the sports awards were handed out during the annual banquet held at the high school. Kevin Krampitz was given the Ole Man Award.

Already excited to be among the 10 teams in the NJCAA Division I Baseball World Series, Blinn College head coach Dusty Hart was hoping for one more thing. “The fifth seed would be perfect,” the Buccaneers’ first-year coach said Monday afternoon.

Marik ready for challenge of retooling Tigers next year When this year’s playoffs began, Sealy Head Baseball Coach Charles Marik was ready for a nice run in the playoffs with his senior-led team. Unfortunately, that dream ended last Monday when Navarro completed a twogame comeback and eliminated the Tigers from the Class 4A playoffs.

When Brazos prepared for its area playoff matchup with Orangefield, Brazos Head Baseball Coach Christopher Bright knew his Cougars were in for a battle of major proportions. And even though the Cougars were swept in the area round, Bright said he still believes this team left a legacy that will only make the program stronger in years to come.

While Sealy’s state track and field participants may have come up short of ending up on the podium this year, the journey for this team was a good one that Sealy Head Girls Track and Field Coach Ray Dabney said this program can build upon next year. “Making it to the state meet is a big accomplishment.
